Bubbles all the way!

Do you know what Bubble Wrap® was supposed to be when it was first invented?…. Would you believe me if I told you it was ‘wallpaper?’… “It’s been more than fifty years since Alfred Fielding and Marc Chavannes found a way to seal pockets of air in between two plastic shower curtains to create a three-dimensional pattern of tiny bubbles. Their failed attempt to create the newest groovy trend in wallpaper became the world’s first engineered protective packaging material.” TRUE!

Also, can you believe that one minute of popping those well known bubbles gives more stress relief than a thirty three minute massage! TRUE!

There is only ONE real Bubble Wrap®. It is a generic name but only applies to Sealed Air’s version of the product.

Ok then who knows the answer to this one — when is National Bubble Wrap® appreciation day?…… yes there is such a thing :) Well it falls on the last Monday in January — gets us all in areal frenzy within the world of packaging.

There was a bit of a panic on during 2105 when Sealed Air announced it was taking the “pop” out of the bubble! Self inflatable sheets of bubble wrap…hmmmm…. however, it was soon followed with the announcement that Bubble Wrap® was going no where, nor was the “pop” phew!

On the whole we all LOVE this packaging and somehow it always seems to get us rather excited ;) especially in the Poly Postal Packaging warehouse!

For those who can’t get enough popping…. time to own up… who has download the App?…. confess — we won’t tell anybody ;) …Yes there really is an App that lets you burst bubbles all day long. Can you guess what it is called? No prizes for this one!

For use whilst waiting on your delivery from Poly Postal Packaging to arrive ;)

Bubble Wrap® really did produce ‘sustainable’ produce long before ‘sustainable’ became trendy!

Some great uses for the well loved Bubble Wrap®

1. Wrapping fragile packaging, of course!

2. De-stressing — get popping those bubbles!

3. Insulation for outside pipes and water taps.

4. Camping comfort — place a sheet of bubble wrap under your sleeping bag.

5. Window insulation — still lets in natural daylight.

6. Artwork — Dip your bubble wrap into paint and get creating.

7. Fun — Try a game of twister with Bubble Wrap underneath ;).

8. Make place mats with the kids, get them involved.

9. Wallpaper? …… perhaps not ;)

Hope this gives you a little insight into the world of packaging and Bubble Wrap® side of things.
